The CANON Envirothon is North America's largest high school environmental education competition. The teams, each consisting of five member, compete for recognition and scholarships by demonstrating their knowledge of environmental science and natural resource management. The competition is centered on four universal testing categories - soils/land use, aquatic biology, forestry, and wildlife and a fifth current events issue.
Over 500,000 students from the United States and Canada compete annually.
Envirothon is sponsored locally by the Hull-York Lakeland Resource Conservation & Development Council, Natural Resources Conservation Service,
and your Fentress County Soil Conservation District.
This year York Institute’s Team 1 placed 2nd and York Institute's Team 2 placed 3rd in the local Envirothon.
